Welcome to Ironically Inked: Where We Say the Quiet Parts Out Loud
They say that as you get older, you start to lose your fear. You stop caring about making people comfortable at the expense of your own truth. You finally decide to stop biting your tongue. That is exactly how Ironically Inked was born.
The Break Down that Built Us
For years, I ran on the corporate treadmill until it broke me. Three years ago, a severe work-induced breakdown landed me on long-term disability. It forced me to stop, look at my life, and face the reality of my mental health. Navigating diagnoses like C-PTSD, OCD, ADHD, MDD, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder isn't a walk in the park. But it gave me something invaluable: a complete and total lack of interest in pretending everything is fine.
I decided to channel my survival into creativity. I picked up a virtual pen and personally designed all 22 pieces in our launch line.
Two Lifelong Friends, One Shared Mission
I didn’t do this alone. Right beside me is Cheryl, my marketing genius, my best friend of twenty years, and my literal birthday twin.
Our bond goes deeper than just shared birthdays. We were both raised in deeply restrictive, religious environments that taught us that women were "less than." We both fought like hell to overcome that conditioning, rebuild our confidence, and raise our own families on our own terms. Like me, Cheryl is a Gen X mom navigating a beautiful, chaotic life full of brilliant, neurodivergent Millennial and Gen Z kids who share many of our same struggles.
Bridging the Generation Gap with Dark Humour
Because we live at the intersection of three different generations, we realised something fascinating: whether you are a cynical Gen X-er, a burnt-out Millennial, or a hyper-aware Gen Z-er, we all cope the exact same way. We use humour to survive.
Our store features four raw, relatable collections designed to hit home for all three generations:
- Warhol'n It: Edgy, vibrant pop art designs with a sharp, modern bite.
- Anxiety in the Streets, Insomnia in the Sheets: Dark, deeply relatable humour for the neurodivergent and mental health warriors among us.
- Living in the Meow: Grumpy, edgy cat humour for people with resting cat face and zero time for nonsense.
- The Unfiltered Side: Pure, unapologetic laughs centred around our favourite, most versatile F- and C-words.
And those collections are just the beginning. I have many more designs already created for the current collections, as well as several more collections that are ready to go when the time is right.
